1930s Blakes Holidays Broads Cabin Cruiser 'Cirrus'

We are extremely proud to have been gifted this age old large scale model of 'Cirrus', whose history dates back to the glorious 30s, where boating holidays on the Norfolk Broads experienced a boom.

This model was constructed as a showcase piece, for Blakes Boating Holidays, where potential holiday makers could view the accommodation layout onboard Cirrus. Way before the very thought of online browsing, this was the only 'up market' alternative to viewing paper holiday brochures at the time.

Following the launch into service of the Cirrus class from Johnsons Yacht Station, St Olaves on the southern Broads in the 1930s, this model was held at Blakes Holidays HQ, 22 Newgate Street, London, until the closure of their base. We learnt the model then passed through private ownership, and at some stage an electric motor was fitted to use her as a working model. 

We shall, at some stage bring this fascinating old lady back to her former glory with a significant number of delicate repairs, bringing back her sparkle of life.
